Once again cadets will be attending Fort George for a weekend ex on winter survival.

PARENT INFORMATION SHEET

Your son/daughter has qualified to attend the Winter Indoc weekend exercise at Parks Canada Fort George National Historic Site, Niagara, Ontario. As a prerequisite to this exercise, he/she has participated in the dry-land training session at the Oakville Armourie on Tuesday February 2nd, 2010. There will be indoor shelter available for everyone should it be required.

REMEMBER: Provincial OHIP Card must be in the cadet’s possession at all times

EXERCISE NAME: EX WINTER INDOC ‘10
TYPE OF EXERCISE: Winter training & winter equipment familiarization
LOCATION: Fort George, Niagara
TRANSPORT: Bus

START: Friday, 05th March 2010
TIME: 6:00 pm (Bus Leaves from Oakville Armoury at 1800 hrs {600 p.m.})

FINISH: Sunday, 07th March 2010
TIME: 4:00 pm (Dropped off at Oakville Armoury at approximately 1700 hrs {5:00 p.m.})

NOTE: Do not bring iPods, MP3 players, PSP's, or other expensive electronic items on this exercise. Do not bring matches or lighters. Do not bring replica weapons or large sheath knives (including sharp edged devices). A small pocketknife is acceptable.

Equipment, Supplies & Meals:
The corps will supply all equipment, supplies & meals required for this exercise. Extreme cold winter parka, arctic mitts, mukluks, wind pants and an arctic sleeping bag will be issued upon arrival. Check the personal kit list on page 2. This is what your son/daughter needs to bring.

Medical Status:

We need to be informed if your son/daughter requires assistance with any medications, or any other medical information we should be made aware of that may restrict their full participation.

REMEMBER: Provincial OHIP Card must be in the cadet’s possession

Clothing Requirements

Each cadet should bring the following items:

0 Medical Alert bracelet (if req’d)
CLOTHING COMPRISED OF COTTON (BLUE JEANS etc) HAVE NO INSULATING VALUE AND SHOULD NOT BE WORN AS UNDERGARMENTS.

0(1) Day pack or duffel bag
0(2) Sweatshirt and/or combat shirt
0(2) Sweatpants (no jeans) and/or combat pants
0(3) Socks
0(3) Underwear / bra
0(2) Long Underwear
0(2) Undershirt
0(1) Sweater or polar fleece
0(1) Warm PJs

0(1) One tube of Chapstick
0(1) Toiletries kit...toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, small towel, facecloth, hairbrush, infant wipes can be used for field hygiene etc...
0(1) Cadet Winter Parka or Civilian jacket
0(1) Cadet Toque or Civilian Toque
0(1) Cadet Gloves or Civilian Gloves
0(1) Winter boots or combat boots
0(1) Running shoes (for indoor activity)
0(1) Sunglasses/Eye Glasses
0(1) Flashlight/headlight

All items on this list are MANDATORY and must be packed in your kit!

The above items are the minimum requirement for a cadet to attend. You may bring other items for your comfort and think about how to keep warm. But,…REMEMBER…

IF YOU PACK IT, MAKE SURE YOU CAN CARRY IT.
